Guardsman Register & Grille Cleaning Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Whole-system duct and dryer vent check with before-and-after photos - you see exactly what came out of your vents

Worth knowing

That "$99 whole-house special" is a bait ad - the real number appears once they are in your hallway, or the "clean" is a shop-vac at the register. We photograph the inside of your ducts before and after instead.

Guardsman Register & Grille Cleaning: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

Guardsman register and grille cleaning in Fort Worth typically runs $140-$280 per system when performed as a standalone service, or $85-$165 when bundled with full duct cleaning. Most Guardsman-compatible grilles we encounter are the 10×6, 12×6, and 14×8 inch residential sizes, with the 12×6 being the most common in Fort Worth homes built between 2015 and 2020. We stock the full Guardsman-compatible cleaning kit on our trucks and can schedule within 48 hours.

Most owners realize something’s off when they pull a grille to change a filter and find the fins won’t budge, or when a room stays stubbornly warm despite the AC running flat out. The camera doesn’t have a sales pitch - if the buildup is surface dust, we’ll show you that too.

Which Guardsman Models This Applies To

Guardsman grilles fall into three series that matter for cleaning and replacement: the G-Series residential line (G100 through G400), the Pro-Seal commercial line, and the older Pre-2016 snap-fit models that Guardsman phased out after supply-chain changes. The G-Series uses a standard 3/4-inch fin depth with a removable core; the Pro-Seal line uses a fixed 1-inch core designed for higher static pressure systems common in Fort Worth’s newer two-story builds near Walsh Ranch and Alliance Town Center.

To identify yours, check the stamp on the grille frame’s back edge - G-Series show a four-digit code starting with the year (2023G-126, for example). The Pre-2016 snap-fit models have no stamp, just a molded “GM” logo, and their mounting tabs crack if forced during removal. We carry adapter plates for these, since the original mounting pattern is obsolete.

OEM Guardsman grilles run 30-40% above quality aftermarket equivalents from DuroZone and Accord. For cleaning purposes, the aftermarket units clean identically - the difference is in the damper mechanism, not the grille face. We stock both and will show you the price difference in writing before you decide.

Signs Your Guardsman Register & Grille Cleaning Is Failing

Signs Your Guardsman Register & Grille Cleaning Is Failing
  • Stuck or seized damper lever. The polypropylene gear inside the grille frame binds with dust and Fort Worth’s hard water scale, which aerosolizes through the supply ducts. Owners often force the lever and strip the gear teeth, turning a cleaning into a replacement.
  • Uneven airflow between rooms on the same duct run. When one grille pushes strong air and another trickles, the restricted grille usually has debris packed behind the fin array where a homeowner’s vacuum hose won’t reach. Our camera scope shows the blockage at the first elbow, not the grille face.
  • Visible mold or mildew staining on the grille face or surrounding ceiling. Fort Worth’s spring humidity spikes and winter heating cycles create condensation at the grille rim, especially in older Near Southside homes with uninsulated duct boots. Cleaning removes the growth; we photograph the boot condition to show whether the root cause is airflow or insulation failure.
  • Rattling or whistling that stops when you press the grille frame. The mounting springs lose tension over time, or debris wedges between the grille and drywall. A proper cleaning includes reseating and, if needed, replacing the spring clips - we stock the Guardsman-compatible #MC-12 clip set.
  • Persistent dust resettlement within 48 hours of surface cleaning. If the grille fins and duct boot behind them hold packed debris, vacuuming the room just stirs it back into circulation. The photo record shows the difference between a wiped grille and a cleaned duct boot.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Service Price Range What’s Included
Guardsman grille cleaning (per grille, 3+ grilles) $85-$125 Removal, negative-pressure extraction of boot and fin array, photo record, reseal with mastic if needed
Guardsman grille cleaning (single grille) $140-$180 Same as above; minimum trip charge applies
Grille replacement with cleaning (OEM Guardsman) $195-$280 New grille, damper adjustment, boot cleaning, photo record, 365-Day Done Right Promise
Grille replacement with cleaning (aftermarket equivalent) $140-$210 Same as above; DuroZone or Accord unit with compatible damper
Bundle: full duct cleaning + all grilles $450-$720 Whole-system cleaning, every grille cleaned or replaced as needed, full photo record, written scope

The range depends on three factors we assess before quoting: how many grilles need attention, whether the duct boots behind them need resealing (common in Fort Worth’s clay-soil shift zones), and whether we’re matching an obsolete Pre-2016 mounting pattern. Haven Standard Clause 1 requires that written price before any work starts - you’ll see the number, not a “call for quote” runaround.

Every grille cleaning and replacement carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If airflow drops or the damper binds within a year, we return and make it right. The photo record from your job is yours to keep, timestamped and delivered same day.

What you can safely check yourself: remove the grille by releasing the spring clips or unscrewing the frame, and look past the fins into the duct boot with a flashlight. If you see loose dust, a vacuum with a hose extension can handle the first inch. That’s the honest limit.

Where DIY goes wrong: forcing a seized damper lever strips the internal gear. Compressed air without containment blows debris deeper into the duct run. And without a scope camera, you cannot see past the first elbow where Fort Worth’s older homes - especially in the Near Southside - tend to hold decades of packed debris. We pulled a boot last month that showed three inches of gray, fibrous buildup the homeowner had no way to detect from the grille face.

We carry Guardsman-compatible grilles, adapter plates, and spring clips on every truck. If your inspection shows more than surface dust, or if the damper won’t move freely, call (817) 520-8797. We’ll put a written price next to your situation before any work starts.
